It Is Time For Summer Weight Comforters

Spring is here and summer is not that far away. Spring and summer temperatures call for a lighter weight comforter that's appropriate for the warmer night temperatures. Lighter weight comforters typically are called summer, tropical or light weight comforters. Summer weight comforters are typically designed for use when nightly room temperatures are 70 degrees Fahrenheit or higher. Summer does not mean foregoing a good night's sleep with a cozy, inviting comforter. Cuddle up with a summer weight comforter!

Comforter Crime Stories - Part 6

The Chronicle Herald in Nova Scotia recently reported that the Mounted Police are reviewing the status of an officer who was acquitted of operating her vehicle while impaired by alcohol.

The officer in question had blood alcohol readings that were .19 and .18, or 190 and 180 milligrams of alcohol in 100 milliliters of blood. This was more than twice the legal limit of .08.

Apparently the local court judge ruled that while the officer was impaired and had open liquor in the vehicle, there was no evidence that the officer intended to drive her car that night.

In acquitting her, the judge noted that the officer had three comforters in her car, the car keys were not in the ignition, thus, the car was not running, and the emergency brake was on. Thus, there was little chance that the officer was driving the car.

In February, Nova Scotia's overnight temperatures are typically around 15 degrees Fahrenheit. The Royal Mounted police officer did one thing right by having three comforters in her car. Comforters, especially down comforters, provide some of the best warmth and insulation and help take the chill out of cold nights. Especially in Nova Scotia.

Duvet Covers

A duvet cover is another name for a comforter cover. Duvet covers protect a comforter from dirt, oils, hair and stains and are substatially easier to clean than a comforter, especially a down comforter.

Duvet covers are also an easy way to redecorate a room. Duvet covers come in many different styles, colors and patterns. They are easy to slip on and off a comforter, thus, changing the look and feel of a bedroom is a snap.

Comforters Needed For Haiti

The Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) is a missionary organization that has workers or financial commitments in 65 countries around the world, including Haiti. Per their website, MCC addresses basic human needs such as water, food and shelter and works alongside communities in a variety of efforts to build peace.

MCC has been active in Haiti for some time, and now, in addition to donations of money, MCC is asking the public to supply 20,000 relief kits, 10,000 heavy comforters and 10,000 sheets for the Haitian earthquake survivors.

These supplies will help relieve the suffering of Haitians who are forced to sleep on the streets and in open areas. MCC’s Haiti staff has requested these supplies based on their first hand knowledge of the disaster.

The comforters and other supplies can be sent to, or dropped off at, the following U.S. and Canadian locations:
